Guinness Storehouse

Located at St James’s Gate, the Guinness Storehouse sits on the site where Arthur Guinness set up shop with a 9,000-year lease in 1759. Visitors today will find seven floors of exhibition space to learn about the history of the Guinness family, discover how Guinness is brewed, enjoy a taste test, and learn how to pour the perfect pint at the Guinness Academy.

What we did

Our Creative Solution

ATS were thrilled when Guinness Storehouse approached us to update their multimedia guide offer. We worked collaboratively with a number of different team members across the Storehouse departments to create, fresh, engaging and exciting content for their many thousands of visitors each year.

The previous solution was produced mainly for tourists from overseas to help them understand the existing interpretation around the site. With the new offer we have developed and heightened the storytelling aspect of the experience by focusing on the history of the site and the many stages that go in to making a beautiful pint.

We were keen to make the multimedia guide suitable for all visitors to enjoy, so we enhanced and added to the existing interpretation, this enabled us to give all visitors the same the same experience.

We also carried out a number of specialist interviews with team members on site to provide some interesting behind the scenes content.

The tour leads the visitor through the Storehouse, giving them a range of interesting information on each level for them to enjoy, with the final stop ending in the Gravity Bar, where they can enjoy fantastic views over Dublin.

The interface was designed to help visitors navigate the large site, we included a map to help navigate between the different levels, a clean interface with clear numbering for each piece of content with an added indication of the level they are currently on. Short directional pieces of audio are also included to help visitors move between stops on the tour.

The tour is available in English, Irish Gaelic, German, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin and Portuguese and International Sign Language.
