Royal Mews

Home to historic royal carriages and one of the finest working stables in existence.

Royal Collection Trust (RCT) were looking for a new supplier to bring a fresh approach to interpreting a number of their sites, including the Royal Mews, which welcome millions of visitors every year from around the world.

Visitors to the Royal Mews can explore the stables and meet the Queen’s horses, view the magnificent collection of carriages and marvel at the limousines used for state duties by the Queen and the Royal Family.

ATS designed an all new multimedia guide with a contemporary narrative, presenting a range of content including audio, video, fun animations, interviews with staff and a series of interactives for younger audiences. We also addressed the wayfinding challenges around the site with maps and interface designs.

Available to all visitors in several languages, Audio Described and BSL, the tour provides high quality accessible interpretation for all visitors.

You MUST use the audio guides because they enhance the tour! They are included in the admission. The guide has options: child or adult tour. It has different languages to select. The device is interactive! You can take a 360 look at the interior of some carriages on its screen. Also, the audio guide points out little details that aren’t on the signs.
