Cawdor Castle, the home of Lady Cawdor and her family, is a magical place where visitors can dream of princesses and knights in times gone by. With a history dating back to Macbeth, this exceptional 14th century working castle opens its doors every April to the general public and has asked ATS to help them to adapt their visitor experience to accommodate their growing popularity.
The castle receives many tourists during the season, in particular from large cruise ships where passengers are speaking multiple languages. Tourism in Scotland, particularly visitors to Scotland’s historic sites, have enjoyed a ‘17% increase in footfall from the previous financial year, recording 5,041,297 visitors throughout the 2017/18 financial year’. (Historic Environment Scotland, April 2018)
Armed with this information, ATS has been appointed by Cawdor Castle to provide the audio production and device provision to tell the story of their historic site. Our existing experience working with Castles such as Braemar, Balmoral and Culzean is perfectly matched to ensure we will add value and create the immersive experience Cawdor are looking for.
Graham Griffith, General Manager at Cawdor Castle said “We are very excited to be able to offer our visitors who travel from all over the world a new immersive experience at Cawdor Castle. Working with ATS Heritage and the knowledge they have in this area we know that the Audio guides will be a special way to share some of the fantastic stories of this historic property and family.”
