New handsets for Audio Described tour
ATS were asked to provide audio guide handsets for the National Civil War Centre in Newark. The centre currently has several trails to share with their visitors, these range from their Augmented Reality Trail using smartphones and devices, to a more hands on paper version of their Civil War Trail.
The latest tour, an audio described tour that has been written by the centre, is being rolled out to ensure that there is greater access to the exhibitions for blind and visually impaired visitors. ATS have been asked to provide the ideal handsets to ensure the audio described tour is delivered to the visitor in the highest quality format and with ease of use a high priority.
Some key features of a device to consider for Audio Described tours are raised keys, (back lit if possible), light weight, hold to ear and wearable with headphones (for hands free). ATS provide a range of Audio Guide devices and models from which they help clients to choose the best fit for their visitor experience.
ATS have many years of producing and delivering accessible tours which can be found in our portfolio page here.
