New project at Old Royal Naval College: Painted Hall Multimedia Guide
The Painted Hall, often described as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the UK’, is the greatest example of decorative mural painting in Britain.
ATS Heritage, leaders in creating high quality audio and multimedia tour experiences, has been appointed by the Old Royal Naval College to develop a brand-new multimedia guide.
As part of a HLF funded project to clean and conserve this magnificent decorative scheme, ATS will produce an all new multilingual visitor multimedia guide in time for the Hall’s relaunch in January 2019.
Spencer Clark, Director, ATS Heritage said: “We are very proud to be appointed by such a prestigious site. The team has begun to explore ways in which the Hall’s many stories and layers of history can be interpreted. The Painted Hall is a breath taking visual experience, so our challenge will be to deliver the right balance of audio and visual content to deliver a memorable and enjoyable experience. We already have some clever ideas to explore that will dramatically enhance the visitor experience”
The multimedia guide will be available in multiple languages including British Sign Language (BSL) and the team will be working with long term collaborators VocalEyes to develop an Audio Described tour for blind and partially sighted visitors.
