This one day workshop will be full of practical examples and participants will leave with a better understanding of the value of multimedia interpretation, how to develop an interpretation plan and the budget and resources that might be required.

‘Multimedia’ is a term that is talked about frequently but often misunderstood. There is a feeling that visitors expect it, that it is the latest thing, but what exactly is it? And is it appropriate for an historic house, garden or castle? This session is for those that run historic properties and would like to find out what multimedia is and how it can support their visitor experience.
Participants will discover that multimedia can tell a range of stories from the past and reveal the present life of the property through those that live and work there; can reach a diverse range of visitor groups, including families, those who don’t speak English and those with disabilities; that it is unobtrusive and can support rather than disrupt the special atmosphere of a historic property; that is can support the key role that guides and volunteers play in the visitor experience and most importantly, that it is affordable.
